They try things.

The real question is whether Roblox's discovery system can scale to handle the volume. If Build generates thousands of games per day, can the algorithm effectively surface the good stuff without drowning users in mediocrity? That's untested at this scale.

There's also the question of whether retention is the right metric. A game can have high retention because it's addictive, not because it's good. Think mobile casino games. Think gacha mechanics. Users aged 16 and up can publish their creations to a global audience. That makes sense — you want some maturity gate for content that goes public. Nine-year-olds can play, but sixteen-year-olds can ship.

There's a free basic version available, plus paid options. Roblox hasn't detailed the pricing yet, but expect a freemium model with premium features like advanced editing tools or faster generation times.

The phased rollout suggests Roblox knows this could go wrong. They're not throwing it at the wall to see what sticks — they're testing the waters, watching the metrics, and ready to pull back if things get ugly.

What's Next: AI Agents and 3D Scene Generation

Build is just the beginning. Roblox is already working on the next layer: AI agents that assist creators with playtesting and analytics.
