The researchers validated a 47-item Inventory of Nonordinary Experiences and administered it to a general population sample of 5,117 adults. That's not a small or self-selecting group. These are everyday people, not a clinical sample drawn from psychiatric clinics.

Ask: How is our team making sense of this? Are we framing it productively? Are we normalizing the experience of dealing with a real-world breach instead of treating it as a catastrophe or a failure of character?

Teams that normalize the experience, focus on learning, and avoid blame tend to emerge stronger. Teams that pathologize the incident tend to repeat the same mistakes.
